Whipping Lessons: Pain Without Fear

When I teach whipping, I don’t start with how to crack it, I start with how it feels. Too often, people fixate on throwing flashy strikes. But in BDSM, it’s not about showmanship. It’s about the person beneath the whip.
In my own practice and teaching, I prioritize accuracy. A misplaced strike can break trust faster than any careless word. Submissives aren’t simply seeking punishment—they’re seeking an experience of pain and surrender that feels safe. That means no strikes anywhere near the eyes, neck, or other sensitive areas. There are exercises to build absolute precision, along with foundational concepts that every top should learn.
In life, pain without fear is rare. Whips are harder to control than hands or clamps—they’re weapons, and it takes very little to do real harm. The art of whipping isn’t about force. It’s about precision, pacing, anticipation, and the quiet spaces between each strike. Holding the right distance isn’t just technical skill—it’s a form of care. A steady gaze or a well-placed pause can speak louder than a dozen lashes.
